For a lot of people, applying for financing can be one of the most stressful elements of buying a house. But it doesn't have to be. I have close professional relationships with a lot of lenders in the Las Vegas area, and they've helped me learn a few things that make the process of applying for a loan a snap.

1 – Assemble a list of questions about your loan program

If you find that you don't thoroughly comprehend the pros and cons of the various loan programs, be sure you bring a list of questions with you. I or one of my lenders will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it is hard to understand the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.

2 – Decide when to lock

Locking in a rate indicates that a lender holds to the interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between application and at the time of closing. Those who decide to float presume that the interest rates will fall in the near future. 3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to lower your rate
